Dear all,
President Shrimp’s Cabinet is an armoire of empty-headed dangers, a curio of corruption.
The recent 3-hour Cabinet display of sycophancy was only worthy of future SNL parody, instead of taking up room as the key “thinking apparatus” of the Executive Branch. All is aimed at idealizing Trump, and heaping contempt on any dissenting (read informed) opinions.
Hegseth, Bondi, and Patel are clear dangers to national security and the rule of law.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr, though, may well be directly responsible for more American deaths. The body count from his anti-vaxx stance alone I think will prove criminal. But his anti-science, anti-expertise stances, and his grandiose delusions of his own knowledge will damage our reason-based public health enterprises for decades to come. We can’t recover unless we take on this apex predator of misinformation.
He just delivered a heartfelt tribute to Charlie Kirk, saying they were “like spiritual brothers” and also misstating that they met in 2001, when Kirk would have been 7 years old.
But beyond his idealization of Kirk, a proven bigot, racist, misogynist, and homophobe (who nonetheless of course did not deserve to get murdered), there’s this, after the Minneapolis school shooting a couple of weeks ago:
Following the deadly mass shooting at a Minneapolis church last week, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said at a press conference that he sees mass shootings as “a health crisis.” That much is true and supported by research. But then Kennedy shared that “we’re looking for the first time at psychiatric drugs” as a culprit.
Patel K. RFK Jr. is propagating a dangerous myth about mental health treatment and violence. MSNBC, September 3, 2025
“Hey, Hey, RFK - how many kids have you killed today?”
Let’s first state what we know: SSRI’s help many people, and there’s no evidence that they are causative of aggression or violence. There is a black-box label on them stating that they may increase suicidal ideation (particularly when started), but suicides went up when adolescent prescriptions went down after this black-box warning was put in place. These are safe medications, and help us on the biological dimensions of mental health issues. For Kennedy to use this tragic moment to tap into his pre-cooked anti-science and anti-psychiatry beliefs is unforgivable in the nation’s top public health official.
Wrong-way RFK has got to go.
The calls for his departure are growing louder:
American College of Physicians Calls for Removal of Secretary Kennedy at HHS | ACP Online
Large Physician Group Call for RFK Jr.'s Removal | MedPage Today
Medical groups call on US Health Secretary Kennedy to step down | Reuters
IDSA Joint statement calling for Secretary Kennedy resignation
Family Physicians Call on President to Reconsider Secretary Kennedy’s Ability to Serve | AAFP
And the American Psychiatric Association put out this statement recently
Psychiatry.org - APA Statement on the Make Our Children Healthy Again Report Recommendations
This sets the absolute minimum baseline:
“The American Psychiatric Association urges the administration, as it moves forward with the recommendations of this report, to base every action on rigorous scientific evidence, and involve psychiatrists and other medical leaders. Through these partnerships between the federal government and the scientific community, we can we deliver effective, patient-centered solutions that will ultimately safeguard the mental health and well-being of America’s children and adolescents.”
But my own view is that this administration is not inclined to be inclusive or rigorous.
Call your Representatives and Senators.
Wrong-way RFK has got to go.
Warmly,
Ravi
Thank you, Ravi, for today's post! I have forwarded it to my Congressman and Attorney General in Colorado, as well as other folks I know who share your concern and call to action! RFK has got to go, ASAP, pure and simple. Thanks for your informative summary and update!
